To celebrate 10 years of business, Fifth Group Restaurants' La Tavola Trattoria is offering a special prix fixe menu from Friday, June 17 through Saturday, June 27. $29 per person will unlock a collection of old favorites and some new classics. The menu will also be available à la carte.
The special menu includes such items as seared scallops with polenta and spinach, sage and ricotta ravioli, fregola and little neck clams with Calabrian chiles, and warm apple bread pudding with rum raisins, caramel, and vanilla semifredo. It will be offered in addition to the regular menu during dinner hours (Monday-Thursday and Sunday, 5:30-10 pm; Friday and Saturday, 5:30-11 pm.)

Herndon Takes Over Kitchen at Pomodoro
Erick Herndon is the new chef at Italiatn restaurant Pomodoro in Virginia Highland. The new chef plans to give back to the community by reaching out to the local schools and offering to help them raise money for their schools.
"For example, we are now working out a deal with Morningside PTSA to come and eat at the restaurant on a Tuesday night in exchange for 20 percent sales back into the school," Herndon said. "I plan to volunteer my time to conduct culinary classes for the kids from these schools."
Herndon's first task was to create a new men featuring more classic Italian fare with a creative twist. Herndon is no stranger to the Atlanta dining scene, having cooked at Buckhead Diner and The Colonnade. He was most recently in Washington D.C. as a sous chef at Sette Bello.

American Roadhouse Celebrates 20th Year
American Roadhouse, located at 842 North Highland Ave. in Virginia Highland, is celebrating this month and all year long, as the long-standing neighborhood eatery is turning 20-years-old on January 24, 2009. The year-long 20th anniversary celebration will kick off the week of January 18th with a 20 percent discount (available online through its e-mail club). Special promotions and activities will run throughout the year.
What started out as a neighborhood eatery has also branched out with a catering company. American Roadhouse offers brunch, breakfast, box lunches, and blue plates served at any location throughout the area. According to co-owner Ed Udoff, they also offer a BBQ at any location, bringing in a six-foot BBQ grill, chef and all the fixings. They also cater private parties in the restaurant.
American Roadhouse manages food concession operations at youth ballparks around the city. Udoff and Maslia believe in giving back to the community and offer charity driven promotions such as food drives, donations from blue plates to Habitat for Humanity, and promotions for elementary and middle schools.
