Partners Adam Gajadharsingh, Gabriel Greenberg and David Duley have joined forces to transform the former Prince of Wales space on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown into The Nook, at Piedmont Park. On March 20th, the first day of spring, The Nook will open to the public at 5 p.m. to offer Atlanta residents, Midtown businesspeople and Piedmont Park-goers a new and reliable gathering spot for lunch, brunch, dinner or drinks.
As longtime friends and fellow Emory University alumni, Gajadharsingh, Greenberg and Duley decided to start from scratch to achieve their vision for The Nook by completely gutting the restaurant that was formerly in place, installing, among other things, new electrical, plumbing
and woodwork for their tavern. The Nook features hand-made glass accordion doors that create an open line of sight from the tavern to the park and allow guests to walk from the restaurant onto the patio, which is covered by a brand new cedar trellis. The restaurant seats up to 150 guests between the dining room, bar and patio areas.
The Nook's owners believe it is important for restaurateurs to make environmentally responsible decisions, and their tavern has several green elements. In addition to much of the restaurant's woodwork coming from reclaimed wood, the kitchen has computer screens behind the line instead of the machine that prints out paper ticket orders, enabling the cooks to see each food order that comes in without producing any paper waste. The Nook is also the first restaurant in the city to install Dyson Air Blade hand dryers in the restrooms, which reduce paper waste and use, on average, only $30 worth of energy per year.
The Nook is a food-driven establishment with a menu featuring upscale tavern fare. Menu items range in price from $5.99 to $17. And, in addition to a full liquor and wine selection, The Nook's large bar offers 12 beers on tap with an additional 18 bottled beers. The affordable wine list contains three price tiers for wines by the glass: $6, $8 and $10. There will also be a specialty cocktail list.
Guests can also look forward to "Picnook Basket" options at The Nook in the coming months as the restaurant offers prepared picnic meals on weekends for guests to order and pick up for gatherings at Piedmont Park.
The Nook is located at 1144 Piedmont Avenue in Midtown. The restaurant will serve lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 11a.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 11a.m. to Midnight on Sunday. The Nook only accepts reservations for large parties. Complimentary valet is available during dinner hours. For more information about The Nook, call 404-745-9222.
